As Design Associate at Kirksey, I contributed to the design of Tallowood Baptist Church’s Entry Lobby, Education & Administration Building, the first major building campaign for the church in over 30 years. This expansion nearly doubled the campus program spaces and established a new architectural identity for the community.
The project introduced a 57,000-square-foot education and administration facility that welcomes members and visitors at the campus edge. The new building includes 26 preschool classrooms, an indoor activity room, a large nursery, 10 children’s classrooms with support spaces, third-floor meeting rooms for adults, and administrative offices. Designed to be secure yet welcoming, the building acts as a gateway to the campus.
A key design element was the integration of stained glass from the original chapel into the new glass entry corridor, symbolically linking the church’s history with its future. My responsibilities included design coordination for the education and administration wing as well as developing the entry sequence of the new worship center, ensuring cohesion between the architectural language of both entry elements.
